Laila Mickelwait Treats Victims as Pawns: Serena Fleites
TL;DR - Laila ran a bait-and-switch, taking donations meant for a homeless victim of revenge porn by changing the beneficiary to another abolitionist, who also happens to be on the Exodus Cry board of directors.
Laila calls PH's executives "sociopaths" for profiting from the suffering of young women.
Immediately after Serena Fleites was featured in the New York Times Kristof op-ed, Laila Mickelwait started a GoFundMe campaign for Serena "and child victims of Pornhub."
As the campaign approached its new $50,000 goal (up from the $10,000 donors were told was going to help Serena escape homelessness), Laila changed the beneficiary to Rebecca Bender, a fellow abolitionist.
As of December 22, 2020, the campaign gained over $95,000 and went to Rebecca Bender Initiative. According to Exodus Cry's 2019 tax documents, Rebecca Bender is on their board of directors and receives no salary for her position.
